Disaster at Castle Canter

As they approached the main gate, the adventurers were surprised by a pair of giant dogs. Chester fell over (in his haste to engage the foe) and Monkley was knocked over by the first dog. While Monkley wrestled on the ground, George fended off the bites of the second dog. With some luck, Monkley was able to roll the dog into the dry moat below. With Monkley and George flanking the second dog, it fell quickly. Unfortunately, George had dropped his axe into the moat during the fight. Using a rock, Monkley knocked the dog in moat senseless. After the fact, Chester informed the others that he had blessed that rock. George climbed down a rope and collected his axe and the blessed rock, then the group continued into the castle grounds.

Ahead of them was a collection of rubble from demolished buildings, while the inner courtyard was on the far side to the left. In the middle of the outer courtyard was a hill, topped by a lighthouse and a temple. As the three aspiring heros entered the lighthouse, they heard a ghostly voice cry out:

The boat set sail to bring the bride.

It was very scary, so the three adventurers fled to the inner courtyard, hoping to find some unguarded treasure.

At the centre of the inner courtyard was the keep, towering 4 or 5 stories above. On the right wall of the courtyard was one of the few remaining buildings - the old stables. Inside the former stables was a pack of small dog men. The males were playing some game with bones while the females were cooking something horrible. At the sight of a feeble foe, the battle rage of Aries surged through Monkley's veins. He charged the dog men, knocking many senseless with his bare hands. George did not see the honour of such combat and did his best to save what dog men as he could. He managed to toss a few of the poor creatures out the door before Monkley could lay his hands on them.

After the dog men were dead, or escaped, the group started searching through the stables. Their search was interrupted by a band of well-armed dog men and their pet wolfhounds. The dog men warriors proved more of a match than the scrawny creatures they first met. Monkley and George fell after repeated spear wounds. The last they remember of Chester, he was calling out, "Don't worry. I'm right behind you."
